SUMMARY:Exhibition Opening Reception + short movie
DESCRIPTION:INNER REFLECTIONS -\n\nSolo exhibition by AIDA TEJADA\n\nOpening reception Friday\, November 18th at7.00pm\nWith the presence of the artist (followed by a short French movie)\n\n“Sometimes your everyday life is aesthetically transformed…when common objects are presented in a new perspective\, they awake feelings ranging from euphoria to depression and from serenity to restlessness. The images in this project are everyday objects that cross my gaze at home and elsewhere. Objects that are often abandoned\, ignored\, or taken for granted. The city images are common buildings in ordinary streets. Toachieve the desired effect I create textures and artful compositions with daylight\, my camera’s movements\, and different reflecting surfaces. How you interpret reality depends on the viewpoint you choose…”\n\n \n\nAida Tejada by herself:\n\nBorn and raised in the Dominican Republic. I left my nativeisland to broaden my horizons at an early age. France\, Spain\, Belgium\, Kazakhstan\, Cuba and the UnitedStates are some of the countries that have influenced my aesthetic sensibilities over the years.Graduated with a degree in psychology from the University of Madrid. I later obtained a Masters inCommunications from Paris University. \n\n\nThree years ago\, I decided to pursue my old passion andI embarked in photography. I studied with Bryan Peterson and at the International Center of Photography (ICP) in New York. I explore various alternatives to reality. For each photograph the subject isirrelevant\, only the meaning it expresses at any given moment in time matters. All my images are created in one shot.
