About The Speaker:
\nDr. Seth Bernstein is a Licensed Psychologist\, Certified Addictions Professional\, and an expert in behavioral and mental health prevention and intervention. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Maryland at College Park\, and obtained his Doctorate of Psychology degree from the Florida Institute of Technology. He completed his internship at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital\, received advanced training in the Executive Leadership Academy at the University of Virginia Darden School of Business\, and is a published author. Dr. Bernstein is currently the Executive Vice President of Community Investments at United Way of Palm Beach County\, where he helps determine how to invest donor dollars into vital nonprofit community organizations. Prior to working for United Way\, he served as the Staff Psychologist and Director of Community Engagement at Boys Town South Florida\, directing several evidencebased programs in communities and schools throughout Palm Beach County. Previously\, he held positions at the Health Care District of Palm Beach County\, at a residential adolescent substance abuse treatment program\, and at an outpatient counseling agency. Dr. Bernstein works very closely with many agencies and initiatives throughout the community and nationally. He maintains a keen awareness on racial equity in his efforts regarding practices and policies. He served on the Juvenile Justice Board\; serves on the steering committees of the Birth to 22&mdash\;United for Brighter Futures initiative\, BeWellPBC\, Palm Beach County Action Alliance for Mental Health\, and Healthier Delray Beach\; serves as Co-Chair of the Birth to 22: Becoming a Trauma Sensitive Community\, Vice-Chair for the Palm Beach County School Health Advisory Committee and Community Chair of the Wellness Promotion Task Force\; and is Vice-Chair of the Board for Boca Raton&rsquo\;s Promise\, an advocacy group for mental health education and awareness. Dr. Bernstein also serves on the Advisory Board of South University&rsquo\;s Mental Health Graduate Program in West Palm Beach. He is a proud alumni of Leadership PBC&rsquo\;s Focus (1999) and Engage (Class of 2019) programs. Nationally\, he serves as an advisory board member of the Center for School Mental Health at the University of Maryland at Baltimore\, he participated in the U.S. Surgeon General&rsquo\;s conference on children&rsquo\;s mental health Issues\, and he is a member of the Mental Health Education Interdisciplinary Consortium. In addition\, Dr. Bernstein regularly presents at state\, national\, and international conferences on topics related to prevention and early intervention services and support systems for children and families\, mental health in schools\, as well as philanthropic efforts. Dr. Bernstein has received numerous awards and recognitions for his extensive efforts to improve the lives of people throughout the community. He lives in Delray Beach with his wife of 27 years and has two sons.
