SUMMARY:Opera Workshop Scenes
DESCRIPTION:Palm Beach Atlantic University’s Opera Workshop will present scenes from two Italian operas— “The Marriage of Figaro” and “Cosi Fan tutte”—both composed by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart\, with librettos by Lorenzo da Ponte. A sequel to “The Barber of Seville\,” “The Marriage of Figaro” is an opera buffa (comic opera) and recounts a single “mad” day in the palace of the Count Almaviva\, in which the servant Figaro outwits his noble master\, who is trying to seduce Figaro’s fiancée. In “Cosi Fan tutte\,” two young officers make a bet that the sisters to whom they are engaged will remain faithful. Each lover\, disguised\, attempts to woo the other’s fiancée with results that are both comic and heartbreaking.
