DESCRIPTION:The concert will open with Beethoven’s tragic “Coriolan Overture” followed by the four dance episodes from Aaron Copland’s “Rodeo.” “Rodeo” captures the spirit of the Wild West with movements such as“Buckaroo Holiday\,” “Corral Nocturne\,” “Saturday Night Waltz” and “Hoe Down.” The evening will end with the fiery “Fifth Symphony” of Dmitri Shostakovich\, which was so well-received at its premiere in Russia\,  the standing ovation was nearly as long as the piece— 45 minutes.
