About Us

The Health Care District of Palm Beach County is a unique, independent special taxing district with 1,400 employees and more than 600 licensed healthcare providers. Established by voters in 1988 to ensure healthcare access based on evolving community needs, the District is dedicated to caring for all and delivering vital services that keep the county healthy, including:

• County Trauma Agency and Trauma Hawk: Supports county public safety through oversight of trauma system quality, leads injury prevention, and provides lifesaving aeromedical services in partnership with Fire Rescue
• Lakeside Medical Center: Florida’s only rural teaching hospital, located in the Glades
• Skilled Nursing Center: Award-winning safety-net facility providing rehabilitation, short and long-term care for eligible residents
• School Health: Delivers care for students in over 170 public schools
• Operation C.O.A.S.T.: Partners with law enforcement to connect people in crisis to care
• Nine Federally Qualified Health Centers: Provides comprehensive, affordable medical, dental, women’s health, and mental health services to adults and children, with or without insurance
• Mental Health Services: Award-winning care for conditions from depression to substance use disorders, available daily, including weekends, 7 a.m.-7 p.m.
