Meal Build Food Drive, Stamp Out Hunger and corporate volunteer efforts aim to support one in nine residents facing hunger
(LAKE WORTH, FLA) – As World Hunger Day approaches on May 28, the Palm Beach County Food Bank is mobilizing the community through a series of impactful May initiatives aimed at supporting the one in nine residents in Palm Beach County experiencing food insecurity.
With approximately 192,000 food-insecure residents throughout Palm Beach County, PBCFB procures food from grocery stores, farmers, food distributors, wholesalers and other sources and distributes it to over 200 local community partners, including food pantries, soup kitchens and schools. During its 2024-2025 fiscal year, PBCFB distributed over 11.7 million meals to over 193,000 residents experiencing hunger. The Food Bank has been honored with several accolades, including the Chamber of the Palm Beaches Health and Human Services Organization of the Year and the Community Collaborator Award at the 8th Annual Nonprofits First Hats Off Awards.
Throughout the month, the Food Bank will lead its
fourth annual Meal Build Food Drive, inviting local businesses to transform food donations into creative, large-scale displays constructed entirely from non-perishable items. Participating organizations will showcase their builds between
May 18 and May 31, with all food donated to support families, children and seniors in need.
Designed to engage teams while giving back, Meal Build offers companies a hands-on opportunity to make a tangible impact in the community. Businesses can register, host a drive and bring their structures to life using collected or purchased items, helping to raise both awareness and critical food supplies for Palm Beach County residents facing hunger.
The registration deadline is May 8.
Last year, participants brought both creativity and impact to life through their builds. Notably, Suffolk Construction’s West Palm Beach team partnered with BRUNT Workwear to “Stomp Hunger,” constructing a giant work boot sculpture made from more than 5,800 cans of food—providing over 4,100 nutritious meals to families, children, seniors and individuals in need across Palm Beach County.
“Our Meal Build participants continue to inspire us with their creativity and generosity,” said Jamie Kendall, CEO of the Palm Beach County Food Bank. “It’s a powerful way to engage teams while directly supporting neighbors facing hunger.”
The Food Bank will also participate in the nationwide
Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive, led by the National Association of Letter Carriers, on
Saturday, May 9. As the nation’s largest single-day food drive, the effort helps stock local pantry shelves at a critical time of year when donations typically decline.
Residents are encouraged to leave non-perishable, protein-rich items by their mailboxes that morning for collection by letter carriers. Donations will be delivered to the Palm Beach County Food Bank and distributed to local partners.
In addition, corporate partners like The Breakers Palm Beach will host large-scale volunteer packing events, including its signature
Day of 100,000 Meals initiative, taking place on
May 27. Through this effort, employees come together to pack nutritious meals for distribution across Palm Beach County—turning a single day of service into meaningful, measurable impact.
